ELECTION TIMELINE 2009
(A Prerequisite for All PFT positions is full dues paying membership in PFT)
Candidates for Elected Officers and Site Representatives shall be presented at the March meeting of the Representative Council. If any Elected Officer or Site Representative position is void of a candidate at that meeting then the Nominations and Elections Committee shall select a qualified nominee to be presented at the next Representative Council meeting in the month of April.
Candidates for President shall be presented at the March meeting of the Representative Council every second year. If the position of President is void of a candidate at that meeting then the Nominations and Elections Committee shall select a qualified nominee to be presented at the next Representative Council meeting in the month of April.
Nominations for Elected officers may be made upon written petition of exactly ten Members, except for the office of the President. Nomination by petition for President may be made upon written petition of a number of Members equal to ten percent (10%) of the total PFT Membership, or one hundred (100) Members, whichever is less. Membership in good standing for purposes of this Article shall refer to those Members who meet the requirements of Article V as of March 1st of the year for election of Elected Officers, other than the President, and for Site Representatives. January:
- At January 15th Rep meeting a timeline for running for PFT office will be given to all Reps
- By January 29thth, an all teacher email will be sent listing PFT job openings, giving job descriptions, instructions and submission deadlines in order to have name placed on ballot
March:
- All candidates running for office must have declared, gathered the necessary signatures on their intent to run petition, and presented it at the PFT office by March 5th to be presented at the March 12th Rep meeting as a candidate for office
- All candidates for Site Representative must declare by March 5th by contacting PFT. Site Rep names will be presented at the March 12th meeting.
- Failure to meet timelines will eliminate candidate from running for any office or as Site Representative
April:
- Two candidates forums will be held at PFT; Wednesday April 15th and Thursday April 30th
- All candidates must have a 300 word or less candidate statement to PFT by May 1st in order to have the statement included in a flyer with the offices and the candidates running for the offices that will go out to all teachers
May:
- Elections will be held Tuesday May 12th and Wednesday May 13th. Results will be announced at May 14th Rep meeting
