2012 PFT ELECTION TIMELINE
Candidates for President, Elected Officers and Site Representatives shall be presented at the March meeting of the PFT Representative Council. If any elected officer or site representative position is void of a candidate at the March meeting then the Nominations and Elections Committee shall select a qualified nominee to be presented at the next Representative Council meeting in the month of April.
JANUARY:
- January 12 – At the January Rep Council, all election information and Timeline will be given to Reps. Petitions to declare as a candidate are due March 2
- January 19 – By January 19, an all teacher email will be sent listing all PFT job openings, job descriptions, instructions and submission deadlines in order to have name placed on ballot
FEBRUARY:
- February 2- Send email reminder listing all PFT job openings, giving job descriptions, instructions etc.
- February 16 – At the February Rep Council, remind reps of election timeline and that they must declare for site rep by March 2
- February 16 – By February 16, another all teacher email reminder sent
MARCH:
- March 1 – March 1 another all teacher email “last chance” reminder sent
- March 2 - All candidates running for office must have declared, gathered the necessary signatures in their petition, and presented it at the PFT office by March 2 to be presented at the March 8 Rep meeting as a candidate for office
- March 2 - All candidates for site rep must declare by March 2 by contacting PFT. Site rep names will be presented at the March 8 Rep Council
- March 8 – At Rep meeting, present candidate names
- March 12 – Send email to all candidates verifying status and giving Forum information
- Failure to meet timelines will eliminate candidate from running for any office or as site rep
APRIL:
- April 12 – At April 12 Rep Council meeting, all reps will pick up all election materials and keep them at their sites until the May election. Rep Council will get information about candidate forum and send all teacher email with Forum information
- April 25 – One candidate forum will be held at PFT on April 25
- April 27 – All candidates must have a 300 word or less candidate statement to PFT by April 27 in order to have the statement included in a flyer (or email) with the offices and the candidates running for offices that will go out to teachers
MAY:
- Elections will be held Tuesday May 15 and Wednesday May 16. Results will be announced at the May 17th Rep Council meeting
